Expansion planned for Manchester Moxy hotel after successful start
A three-storey upward extension providing an additional 54 rooms is proposed at the Atkinson Street building.
KE Hotels has submitted an application to Manchester City Council to make Moxy Manchester bigger, citing strong demand and high occupancy rates since the hotel opened in 2021.
The scheme, if approved, would take the number of keys from 146 to 200.
Located on a constrained site on the edge of Spinningfields, the only expansion option is to go upwards. The current building, built behind the retained facade of the former Invicta House hat factory, rises to nine storeys.
Plans designed by ICA and submitted by planning consultant Ashton Hale, seek to add another three storeys to the hotel.

The hotel is run by KE Hotels and Moxy is a Marriott-owned brand.
I hope they clean up the burnt/smoke stained side façade as part of the work – it looks awful like an extraction flute has caught fire and thrown loads of smoke onto the building.
