Who is the event aimed at? This event is aimed at employers that want to promote: – Placement opportunities to 2nd year undergraduate students on Built Environment and Civil Engineering degree courses at the University of Salford. – Graduate opportunities to final year undergraduate students and postgraduate students This event is ideal for employers that require applicants to be studying any of the following courses; – Architectural Design and Technology – Building Surveying – Civil Engineering – Construction Project Management – Property Management & Investment – Quantity Surveying A full list of courses in the School of the Built Environment is available online with links to course content information. Civil Engineering course information is also available online. What happens at the event? Students will be directed to the meet employer representatives who will be staffing information stands. If you book a free place at this event, you / your representatives can promote your placement and / or graduate opportunities to students, hand-out placement promotional literature and application forms (if appropriate), answer students’ questions and take students’ CVs (if appropriate). Why book a free place? This is an excellent opportunity for you / your representatives to meet Built Environment students face-to-face to promote your placement and / or graduate opportunities. Here are a few reasons why you should book a free place at this event: · An opportunity to meet potential recruits This event provides an opportunity for you / your representatives to meet potential applicants and emphasise to them the benefits of working for your business. · Project work This event provides an opportunity to promote your placement opportunities to students who can work for you for a limited time period and carry out specific pieces of project work. · New ideas, understanding or technology This event provides an opportunity to promote your employment opportunities to students who can help your current staff implement new business ideas, understand new business practices and develop / implement new technology. Examples: developing operational plans and strategies, implementing new business information systems or technology or helping current staff to understand and make use of new business information systems or technology. · Placement to Graduate recruitment Many employers use placements as a way of finding potential graduate recruits. If you are impressed with the work and performance of a student who has completed a placement with you, you can then offer the student a graduate level opportunity which they can start after they graduate (in July the following year). Perhaps one of your representatives could be a member of your staff who started working with your business as a student on placement. · This is a FREE event There is no charge for booking a place at this event. Refreshments and parking places will be provided at no charge. This event has been organised to provide employers and students with an opportunity to meet on-campus so that businesses can promote their placement opportunities and students can find out what placement and/or graduate opportunities are available.
