The enforcement of planning controls is an integral part of the planning system, ensuring that decisions and policies are complied with. It brings together skills in planning, carrying out investigations and needs a thorough knowledge of policy, legislation and case law.

Often an Enforcement Officer is the public face of the planning service, carrying out investigations, liaising with both members of the public and professional agents; ensuring that public confidence is retained. In order to carry out the role an up to date knowledge of changes in policy and legislation are required.

This event will provide delegates with an update on recent cases and appeals, knowledge of the Public Sector Equality Duty and when it needs to be applied and the Proceeds of Crime Act.
