National planning policy requires that economic growth in rural areas be supported in order to create jobs and prosperity. But is rural planning still fundamentally restrictive?

This session will review the latest developments in rural planning and will explore how rural planning is evolving from a focus purely on countryside protection and the demand for food to planning for a thriving well connected rural economy reflective of diverse local economic circumstances and local distinctiveness.
