A considerable amount of thought and discussion has taken place on the role planning can play in addressing health issues. However, there is relatively little on the specific topic of mental health, yet it is reported that one in four adults in the UK are likely to have a mental health problem at some stage in their lifetime.
This event will bring together practitioners from the worlds of mental health and planning to consider what “mental health” actually means, how the way in which we plan and use our environment and buildings affects mental health and looks at practical ways in which planners, designers, architects and developers can play a positive role in creating the conditions for better mental health.
