This session will examine the role of landscape in plan-making and decision-taking, in both urban and rural areas. Speakers will consider how planners can deliver high-quality developments that properly take account of landscape character assessments and landscape and visual impact assessments; discuss the challenges of drafting landscape-led policies for local plans; and provide an update on current initiatives to increase the extent of woodland cover, to support health and wellbeing as well as climate change resilience.
