Hesketh is the oldest golf club in Southport, established in 1885. The course is pre-dominantly links in nature and Championship golf has been played at Hesketh from the early days.

In addition to being a previous qualifying venue when The Open was played at nearby Royal Birkdale, Hesketh has hosted many other professional and amateur championships. Most recently, it hosted the Junior Open in 2008 and co-hosted the Amateur Championship with near-by Hillside in 2011.

The Club offers visiting golfers a series of open competitions including a week-long golfing festival every August and a competitive range of golfing packages are available to visitors and societies alike.

The cost of the day is £45 per person including Coffee and Bacon Rolls, 18 Holes Golf and a 3 course meal on completion of play. Teams of 4 can be pre-booked. Any dinner only guests – £16.00 per person. Maximum handicaps of 36 for ladies and 28 for men are required to play the course. The rules and etiquette of golf must be observed at all times. No denim, jeans or tracksuits are allowed. Trousers or tailored shorts must be worn and all shirts must have a collar. Golf shoes must be worn on the course.
