RICS seminar: commercial property briefing

This half-day seminar forms part of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors Northern CPD programme and includes three separate sessions, which are as follows:

Session 1 – Valuation update
A session that will examine the main valuation issues facing valuers in the current market, including a brief look at the recent changes in the RED Book, valuation uncertainty, the valuation of over-rented property and risk analysis. This session will also look at the valuation of leasehold interests and maintaining standards.

Session 2 – Landlord and tenant update
An examination of the lease renewals, rent review, lease vs license, break provisions, service charges, commercial lease code, landlord and tenant tips and tactics in the lease renewal process and a look at recent case law.

Session 3 – Compulsory purchase option
A session will concentrate on the components of claim in a commercial property compulsory acquisition including a case study. The basic/occupiers loss payment examined considering Hughes vs Doncaster and what's happening in 2009.
