0800 – 10:00 Seminar Practical Advice on the new Construction Act Reforms

All contracts, adjudication costs, a radical new payments regime, compensation for suspension and other changes, all wrapped up in difficult "parliamentary" language – we cut through the jargon of the Local Democracy Economic development Act, 2009 to give you the practical effects of the reforms coming through this year to the construction legislation.

Procurement Remedies

Challenges to the procurement process have increased dramatically over recent years and with less work available and tough economic conditions, this trend looks set to continue. Whether you are undertaking the procurement of goods or services, advising a client or bidding to win a contract a good understanding of the procurement rules and the available remedies is essential.

This session will include a review of recent developments in the legislation and practice in this area, practical steps and tips for those involved in the procurement process and guidance from recent court decisions.

Procurement Strategy and ICE/NEC Conditions (general update)

Everyone has heard horror stories about construction and engineering projects which have gone badly wrong (or been unlucky enough to be involved in them). Selecting the right procurement strategy and form of contract for your particular project is a fundamental building block to avoiding such problems and achieving a successful project.

This session will look at appropriate procurement strategies concentrating on the ICE & NEC forms of contract & will include a general update on the use of these standard forms.

The speakers are Rob Langley, Partner & Tim Craig, Partner, Muckle LLP.
