The leaders of Manchester and Trafford councils will debate post-election delivery of the Northern Powerhouse pledges at a breakfast event for property and regeneration professionals on 21 July at MOSI.

Organised by Remarkable Engagement and Place North West in association with Bilfinger GVA, the free-to-attend breakfast debate will take place on the morning of Tuesday 21 July at the Museum of Science & Industry in Manchester city centre.

Amy Hopkinson, senior account director at Remarkable Engagement, said: “Here in Manchester and across the North West, the Northern Powerhouse is the subject of much conversation. With the shock of the General Election receding into the distance, there is no better time to look again at the Northern Powerhouse in the context of a majority Government, and whether the cross-party commitment can be sustained without a looming polling day to concentrate efforts. Are the recent delays at Network Rail the first cracks in the edifice? Join us to listen to two leading regional figures give us their takes.”

The event is due to start with refreshments and registration from 7.30am with speeches beginning at 8am. Cllr Sir Richard Leese, Labour leader of Manchester City Council, and Sean Anstee, Conservative leader of Trafford Council, will share their thoughts on the growth agenda for the Northern cities. Their opening remarks will be followed by a question-and-answer session chaired by Paul Unger, editor of Place North West, and opened out to the floor.

Formal proceedings are scheduled to finish at 9am with informal networking and further refreshments to follow.
