PlaceEXPO: Low Carbon UK Summit

Low carbon issues from new technology for buildings to the energy infrastructure policy of the UK Government will be debated at this free half-day conference on the afternoon of 17 July.

Speakers confirmed so far include:

• Dr Stephen Finnegan, senior lecturer in building surveying and sustainability lead at Liverpool John Moores Univesity, with examples of new technology and how they could be applied to the construction industry. There will also be details of LJMU's Low Carbon Innovation Hub for supporting businesses involved in devising new technologies for the built environment.
• David Smith-Milne, managing director, PlaceFirst, telling the developer's story about adding energy efficient systems to the projects PlaceFirst undertakes to bring empty homes back into use. Smith-Milne has also established a new company to help social housing tenants access cheaper energy products
• Bill Chandler, legal director, Hill Dickinson, with a look at what the future holds in respect of the green agenda, the proposed legislative changes in the pipeline that are likely to have an impact on the property and construction sector. With a general election just about visible on the horizon, Chandler will also look at what impact this may have and what potential changes could result from a change in government.

This is a free-to-attend half-day event on the afternoon of 17 July at PlaceEXPO in No 4 St Paul's Square, Liverpool, L3 9SJ, taking place from 2pm for a 2.30pm start and closing by 5pm.
