Place event: Understanding Localism

Join Place North West for a free half-day event in Manchester's City Tower where retail giant Tesco and consultation specialist IPB communications will be joined by frontrunner neighbourhood forum Hoylake Village Life, planning lawyer John Holmes and Cheshire East Council to explore the impact of localism on the property community.

The free-to-attend event is brought to you in association with IPB Communications and Hill Dickinson. This free conference will aim to provide tangible detailed examples and forecasts of where and how localism bill will aid or hinder development in the North West, to get beyond the often over simplistic national media rows fed by the blunt words of politicians and pressure groups.

Speakers include:

• Matt Magee, corporate affairs manager, Tesco, part of the Manchester-based new stores team and responsible for community liaison

• John Holmes, partner and head of planning, Hill Dickinson, adviser to private and public sector and expert witness

• Mark Howard, a founder member of Hoylake Village Life, one of the government's pilot neighbourhood forums

• John Quinton-Barber, director, IPB Communications, leading public consultation practice advising major corporates on planning applications and local authorities

• Adrian Fisher, head of planning and housing, Cheshire East Council, outlining the authority's approach to the emerging Localism framework as it becomes statute

The afternoon event on Monday 24 October will take place at Bruntwood's conference suite on the 24^th floor of City Tower in Piccadilly Plaza, central Manchester, M1 4BT.
