This IED event will provide an overview on The International Festival for Business 2014 and how localities in the North West and North Wales can benefit from the Festival. The International Festival for Business is an international gathering of the world's most inspiring businesses taking place from June to July 2014 in Liverpool. It will provide a global forum where industries in key sectors such as advanced manufacturing, low carbon, life sciences, professional & financial services converge to trade ideas, products and contact.

The Festival will be built on events organised by Liverpool as a centre piece for the Festival together with events organised by local, regional and national groups using the banner of the festival.

Bringing together cities from throughout the UK in up to 61 days of events, exhibitions and showcases, the expo will be the largest event of its kind in the UK since the Millennium Fair of 2000, held at the Millennium Dome, and the Festival of Britain in 1951. It is anticipated that the Festival will attract 250,000 visitors from across the globe and bring £100 million worth of investment.

The International Festival has been conceived as a key component of the Lord Heseltine and Sir Terry Leahy review: "Rebalancing Britain – Policy or Slogan" and is supported by the Liverpool City Region LEP, Wirral MBC, UK Trade & Investment, the Department for Business Innovation & Skills, The British Chambers of Commerce as well as the Peel Group.

This free IED session is open to all and may be of particular interest and relevance to Economic Development and Regeneration staff in Local Authorities; so that you can hear how localities and businesses in the North West and North Wales can participate and maximise the economic benefits from this International Business Festival.
