The third in the RIBA North West's Meet the Architect series takes place this week at the RIBA Hub in Manchester with Levitt Bernstein.
Levitt Bernstein won a 2011 RIBA Award for their Heating Infrastructure Project at the University of Liverpool.
The RIBA judging panel were unanimous in their praise of the project, stating: "The delightfully compact building has an articulated roof form that cleverly makes both reference to the architecture of its listed neighbours, whilst concealing the chillers. This play of geometry is complemented by an elegantly conceived and executed fish-scale skin that articulates the otherwise blank facades and cross ventilation.
Importantly this project is more than a clever architectural enclosure; the energy generated provides much of the needs of Liverpool University's Estate. This project is a very complete tale of making new, repairing old and conserving resources."
Axel Burrough from the practice will speak about this award-winning project as well as current schemes on the evening and will then take part in a question and answer session.
Tickets are £5 and are available from the RIBA Hub or by calling Anna Johnson on 0151 703 0107 or e-mailing anna.johnson@riba.org Refreshments will be served.
