Making the Most of Media City UK

The BBC's second largest production centre, BBC North aims to build stronger relationships with audiences across the UK. The centre at Salford Quays will house 2,300 staff and a number of BBC departments – including BBC Sport, BBC Children's and Radio 5 Live.

Liverpool Chamber is keen to ensure maximum opportunities for Liverpool-based creative businesses and individuals who have potential to work for major commissioning organisations such as the BBC, on commissioning, procurement and other collaborative opportunities arising from Media City UK.

A seminar planned for the 17 February 2012 at FACT aims to ensure that the creative sector in Liverpool City-Region are fully aware of and prepared for opportunities from large commissioning bodies based at Media City UK. It will also highlight the extent, variety and strengths of the creative sector in Liverpool city region to major commissioning bodies locating to MCUK.

Confirmed speakers include: Director of BBC North, Peter Salmon, Esther McVey, Conservative MP for Wirral West and Colin McKeown, LA Productions

The event will be hosted by former BBC political journalist Jim Hancock
