Imagine a Future Conference

Date: 5 October 2007, 12:00 - 12:00

Location: Lancashire

Email: david@midpenninearts.org.uk

Mid Pennine Arts is offering a unique opportunity for students from schools across Lancashire. We are inviting them to contribute to a conference which will allow them to participate in a mature debate about how the arts can influence regeneration by investing in ‘Quality of Place’ in both town and rural settings.

Imagine a Future Conference:
05 October 2007
9.30am-4.00pm
The Mercure Dunkenhalgh Hotel, Clayton-le-Moors

We are also offering a limited number of places to regeneration professionals to attend the conference in order to share in the debate and hear what young people have to say about the way their lives will be affected by the regeneration in Lancashire.

Would you, or one of your team be interested in attending?

The subsidised fee is £100 + vat. Our target audience for students is the 15 -18 age band.

The conference will focus on the following areas:
How do feel about the environment;
Becoming involved;
Changing things;
The bigger picture: global issues affecting Lancashire.

Speakers and workshop leaders will include:
Sue Hill from the Eden Project in Cornwall,
The Channel 4 Big Art Project,
Dan Jones from Civic Architects in London,
Rupert Brakspear, Education for Sustainability, Worcestershire C.C.,
Environmental artist Gordon MacLellan from ‘Creeping Toad’; and many other contributors.

The final plenary panel will be composed of representatives from the NWDA, Elevate, L.E.P. and one of the keynote speakers from the conference. They will address questions drawn from the delegate workshops during the day.

We are already have 72 student and teacher places booked and hope that this will rise to around 90 by the time of the conference. In addition there will be 9 presenters and workshop leaders, representatives from the NWDA, Elevate, and LEP.

Management support on the day will be provided by the Mid Pennine Arts Team.
