The annual Hill Dickinson developers' conference will cover the current key issues in property, construction, property litigation, planning and insolvency law.

Programme

13.00 Registration at Oakfield Manor including refreshments

13.45 Welcome Robin Jones, Chester office partner

Lessons to be learned: Two contrasting cases of interest to developers and landlords. North Eastern Properties Limited -v- Coleman & Quinn is a decision on the enforceability of contracts for the sale of flats, and Deajan provides a salutary lesson for landlords on recovering the cost of certain works from residential tenants. Ralph Bullivant, Partner

Construction update: Letters of intent are widely used in the construction industry and are a big cause of disputes, but do they still have a place in construction projects? Alan Pugh, Partner

Town and village greens: Following Redcar the odds for registration are now firmly in favour of claimants and objectors to development. John takes a frolic around the impact of the case and the latest proposals for reform. John Holmes, Head of Planning

No prizes for developers in this competition? Can restrictive covenants on development sites be challenged as being anti-competitive? And what about typical lease obligations in the pre-lets, or the exclusivity promised to the anchor tenant? With the much-hyped repeal of the Land Agreements Exclusion Order in limbo, developers who ignore the competition law implications of their agreements do so at their peril. Bill Chandler, Legal Director
