Martin Brown will be sharing his and contributor insights from the recently published RIBA book, FutuREstorative, which has brought together thought-leaders in the UK and beyond within Martin’s overarching narrative.

Central to FutuREstorative is the emergence of a net positive and restorative sustainability, exploring the shift from an often blinkered focus on sustainability as simply energy performance to a more rounded social, wellness, health and healthy buildings debate. The presentation will highlight the importance of collaboration and digital sharing, through social media and building information management, as the new ‘tools’ in the sustainability toolbox.

This will be complemented by a presentation by Ged Couser of BDP which focuses on the RIBA award-winning Alder Hey Children’s Hospital, a scheme which demonstrates architectural excellence while contributing positively to its economic, social, environmental and cultural context, becoming probably the most sustainable major acute hospital in the UK.

Fee: £10 / free to members of Constructing Excellence Manchester, CIBSE and Landscape Institute
