The Mersey Gateway opened to the public just after midnight on 14 October 2017. The £1.86bn bridge spans the River Mersey between Runcorn and Widnes, providing a much needed second crossing for the area. The bridge has taken three and a half years to build and 20 million cars are expected to cross it every year.

Join the FBE Liverpool Branch and guest speaker, David Parr, chief executive of Halton Borough Council, at The Catalyst Science and Discovery Centre, where you will be able to get a bird’s eye view of the new crossing from the observatory. David will talk you through the highlights of the project and what it means for the local area.
