fbe Greater Manchester – Circularity: Shaping a Sustainable Future

Event Details:
Achieving the ambitious climate change objectives is no doubt a significant challenge and cannot be achieved without a rapid change in the way we build, renovate and live. With the construction industry generating 62% of the UK’s waste and 32% of all waste sent to landfill, innovation and implementation of circular principles within the construction industry will be fundamental.
Putting circular construction ideas into practice on a large scale requires industry wide joined-up thinking, investment and some willing clients to apply these principles to their schemes.
In partnership with Morgan Sindall Construction and Cleveland Steel, this event will bring together national and international experience from across the industry to present and discuss experience, challenges, opportunities and the future of circular construction.
We will discuss circular economy principles, the strategic re-use of steel and the concept of ‘urban mining’ of buildings, all of which have the potential to significantly reduce the embodied carbon of the built environment.
Confirmed speakers include:
• Andrea Charlson, Associate Director Useful Projects (Chair)
• Roy Fishwick, Cleveland Steel
• Noora Khezri, MAD Architects Oslo
• Kane Greenough, Morgan Sindall
