At the recent, second, Green Summit, the 5-Year Environment Plan for Greater Manchester was presented with the explicit aim of making our City Region ‘a place which is fit for the future’ and requiring us urgently to face the environmental threats, taking a lead in tackling climate change and environmental degradation.

The Plan sets out the aim to become a Carbon Neutral City Region by 2038 and this has implications, both challenges and opportunities, for our industry in terms of the design, delivery and management of new buildings and the treatment of the existing stock.

This seminar, presented by our chair Roger Burton, an architect and member of the RIBA Ethics and Sustainable Development Commission, will consider what the Plan means for our industry, what action we can take now and over the next five years to put our built environment on the path towards achieving Manchester’s ambitions.
