Contract Administration Practical Training

Cost: £295 + VAT (Members) / £369 + VAT (Non-Members)

The course will consist of an Introductory session, followed by 4 case studies based on situations arising under the JCT 2005 suite of Contracts.

Course Registration from 9am

Case study situations include the Minor Works, Intermediate and Standard forms and those with Contractor's Design.

Delegates will be divided into groups to discuss the case studies and are encouraged to submit problems they have encountered while administering such contracts. There will be a concluding session to bring together the points arising during the day.

The case studies will throw up typical problems such as extensions of time and loss and expense, withholding and other notices under the Housing Grants Construction and Regeneration Act 1996 (the Construction Act), suspension of works under the Construction Act, dispute avoidance and how to manage a dispute if referred to adjudication.

Who should attend

Anyone who wishes to have a greater understanding of how the JCT Contracts work, how to administer these contracts effectively, how to avoid disputes and how to manage those that arise.

The course is particularly suited to Contract Administrators, Contractors, Sub-Contractors and Suppliers, Architects, Quantity Surveyors, Engineers and other Construction Professionals and those who regularly advise clients of the construction industry.

Course prerequisites

All attendees must bring their own copy of the JCT05 Standard Building Contract. If you don't have your own copy, you can order one from RICS Books.

Ensure compliance with the notice and other provisions of the Act
