Construction Degree Apprenticeships Briefing

Date: 14 July 2015, 8:00 - 9:00

Location: Open Labs Studio Ground Floor, IC1, Liverpool Science Park, 131 Mount Pleasant, Liverpool, L3 5TF

Constructing Excellence Liverpool are proud to work in close collaboration with Liverpool John Moores University and we are delighted to extend this invitation to our members.

We are planning a breakfast event to introduce employers to the degree apprenticeships that are to be launched from September 15. The event is to be held on the 14 July, 8.00 am for 8.30, expected to last for an hour.

LJMU is piloting this new approach with the school of the built environment and a number of selected employers. This event is aimed at raising awareness of the scheme which can give employers an opportunity to access funding to support the university tuition fees and additional training costs of future (and possibly existing) part time degree students in the construction and property disciplines. The degree apprenticeships are mapped against a set of standards, one for each discipline, these have been termed trailblazer standards.

At the event Tony Ellender (Balfour Beatty), who has been involved with developing the trailblazer standards on behalf of a consortium of industry partners, will present how the scheme has developed, the assessment plan and how industry can engage with educational providers. Andy Ross (LJMU) will present the LJMU SOBE programmes that meet the standards and Helen McCormack (LJMU) will provide some information on the next steps to be taken for employers who are considering employing part-time students and would like to be involved with the pilot.

To ensure that we arrange for documentation to be sent to the right people and to arrange catering we require attendees to register before the event. Please follow this link: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/construction-degree-apprenticeships-tickets-17526900431
