The event is being held at the Manchester Conference Centre, Sackville Street which also encompasses the Days Hotel. Car parking is available across the road and Manchester Picadilly rail station is only a few minutes walk away. The construction industry is facing a number of challenges. Following on from last year's Comprehensive Spending Review and with the recent release of the UK government's Construction Strategy, understanding procurement has never been more important. Construction procurement is a complex area with numerous issues including evermore intelligent clients, safe delivery of projects on time and on budget, requirement for improved supply chain integration, and the use of new technologies. However, it can act as a strategic engine for growth.

This half day conference will seek to examine current issues around procurement in the construction industry. Workshops will look at specific procurement areas and a panel debate to discuss the themes raised on the day.

Speakers

We have secured three excellent main speakers. These are Karl Redmond, Chief Executive of the Construction Sector Network, David Pringle, Director of Investment and Property Strategy with the Co-operative Group and Roy Stewart, Chief Executive of the Centre for Construction Innovation North West, part of Constructing Excellence. They will provide perspectives on the current opportunities and challenge of today's construction industry and how procurement feeds into that.
