Building in Context Workshop

The event will be based at the Waterside Conference Centre by Wigan Pier, and will involve a walk to the town centre to consider the options for building in the context of a site that lies beside an exposed flank of the original Victorian town hall, whose links with the town beyond have been bisected by the inner ring road. The workshop will include local case studies focusing on specific design issues, a site visit highlighting development in a conservation area and an exploration of functional and contextual implications of development.
