The Bruntwood 'Ellipse' Charity Cycle-Sportif is now in its second year and following the huge success of last year's event we're inviting you to get on your bikes once again on Sunday 12 September 2010 and join us for the choice of two cycle challenges, in aid of the Royal Manchester Children's Hospital Charity.

With entertainment, awards and race packs on the day, the Bruntwood 'Ellipse' is all about keeping healthy, having fun and is your chance to make a difference. The event will appeal to all levels of cycling enthusiasts whether you relish the challenge of a 55 mile cycle through the stunning scenery of the Peal District or prefer the 'Mini Ellipse', a leisurely 22 mile cycle through the leafy lanes of Cheshire for all the family to enjoy.

Both the 'Ellipse' and 'Mini Ellipse' will start and finish at Booths Hall in Knutsford and we are hoping we can attract as many of our customers, suppliers and employees as possible to participate and support the event with friends and family.

The Routes:

The 55 mile Ellipse is a new challenging Sportif that heads into the Peak District, taking in many of the classic climbs this spectacular national park has to offer. At 55 miles, it's a medium length but challenging course and should appeal to the more serious cyclist.

The Ellipse 55 mile route will start at 8:30am.

The Mini Ellipse features a circular route through the leafy lanes of Cheshire. At 22 miles, we aim to appeal to those recreational cyclists, those who are new to cycling, and importantly for those with families and kids.

The Mini Ellipse 22 mile route will start at 10:00am

On the routes water / food stations will be provided and at these points there will be medical support facilities provided by the St John's Ambulance team.

The event is being fully funded by Bruntwood; all the event organisers and marshals will be giving up their time for free leading up to the event and on the day itself. So every penny raised will go directly to the New Manchester Children's Hospital Charity. This is a fantastic charity that has created a wonderful facility to care for the children of the Northwest and we are proud to support them.

We are very lucky to be sponsored by Cannondale Bicycles, Claud Butler Bikes, High Five sports nutrition and Ken Fosters Cycle shop, so expect a professionally organised event with a lively atmosphere and a race packs for every cyclist.

The cost of entry is:

Ellipse (55 miles): £18.50

Mini Ellipse (22 miles): £12.50

Concessions (11-16): £6.00

Getting involved couldn't be easier. Simply visit to register your place in the cycle challenge of your choice (Route maps are attached on the entry page).
