The ‘sky park’ transforming Manchester’s Industrial Legacy

Following our successful Greening the City event in July, fbe Greater Manchester are delighted to collaborate with the National Trust on an exclusive breakfast event at Castlefield Viaduct, Manchester’s first ‘park in the sky’.
Built in 1892, the iconic Castlefield Viaduct is a landmark of Manchester’s remarkable industrial heritage as the original modern city. For too long the viaduct has lain dormant, but the National Trust and Manchester City Council have come together to breathe new life into the structure and repurpose it as a new pocket park in the sky.

Situated along the Grade II-listed Castlefield Viaduct, the 330-metre temporary park is inspired by New York’s High Line public park, and features 3,000 plant species in gardens created by architects and community groups.
The initial pilot phase opened to the public at the end of July and views are sought from visitors as to how the viaduct could be repurposed for a long-term sustainable public use.

Join fbe Greater Manchester and Harley Haddow for a networking breakfast including a tour of the park
with members of the project team.

This event is limited to 40 attendees and we recommend early booking to avoid disappointment. We have two slots available:

9am – 9.45am a tour with a hot breakfast.
9.45am – 10.30am a tour with a hot breakfast.
