Euro Garages’ former Blackburn HQ up for sale

The 15,000 sq ft tiered office building has been put on the market, as the forecourts operator prepares to move into its new £35m headquarters on the same road.

EG Group, whose subsidiary Euro Garages has more than 5,200 petrol stations across the UK and Europe, was until recently based at Euro House, located within the Beehive Trading Park on Haslingden Road, Blackburn.

But the company, headed up by the billionaire brothers Zuber and Mohsin Issa, are constructing a 130,000 sq ft facility across the road to support its expansion plans, fitted out with more than 1,000 solar panels to save up to 60 tonnes of carbon each year. The scheme won planning approval in 2017 and is nearing completion.

EG Group this month struck a £6.8bn deal to acquire a majority stake in supermarket giant Asda in a consortium with private equity firm TDR Capital. The consortium plans to grow Asda’s portfolio across the UK.

The group’s former Blackburn headquarters, from where employees are still working, was purpose built in 2010 and is being sold as a whole or on a floor-by-floor basis. The ground, first and second floors range from 4,133 sq ft to 5,694 sq ft.

The property features a full-height reception at its centre, with open plan offices occupying each wing of the building. The first floor comprises open plan offices with internal balcony, a kitchen and toilets.

The second floor was purpose-designed as an executive suite with board and meeting rooms, two kitchens and toilets and open plan offices with access to an external balcony. There is also an external car park for approximately 110 cars.

The property is located close to the M65 just outside Blackburn town centre, and is marketed for sale by agency Trevor Dawson for an undisclosed asking price.
