Energy skills centre opens in West Cumbria

A £20m nuclear and environmental training academy has opened in Lillyhall Business Park, Workington, Cumbria.

Energus is a partnership between the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority, the North West Development Agency, West Cumbria Vision and Sellafield.

The 60,000 sq ft building includes engineering workshops, training and meeting rooms, an auditorium and is home to the University of Cumbria's Learning Gateway West.

The centre is part of the drive to turn West Cumbria into a global centre for energy, environment and technology.

Warrington-based Claremont Group Interiors provided interior design and furniture for the new facility.
