Ellis Williams adds to senior team ahead of new office openings

Ellis Williams Architects has welcomed back Tony Skipper to the practice as a director, 15 years after he left to launch a regional studio for John McAslan + Partners.

Skipper has particular interest in the design of academic and research-led environments and campus planning for universities and cultural institutions. He is currently Visiting Practice Professor at Sheffield University and a design panel member of Places Matter.

Warrington-based EWA said it will open a Liverpool studio in July and plans are in place to open a Manchester studio in early 2016. The company employs 54 staff in Warrrington.

Julian Baker, EWA managing director, said: “I am very pleased to welcome Tony back to the team. He brings a wealth of experience and joins the practice at an exciting time as we continue to develop the business nationally in all of our key sectors.”

Welsh National Sailing Centre 1The EWA-designed Welsh National Sailing Academy & Events Centre in Pwllheli for Gwynedd Council is due to open in July. The centre is due to host the 29er World Championships Regatta 2015 in August, with over 40 countries set to take part.
