Elcometer expands with help from Russells Construction

Russells Construction has been appointed to build a 17,200 sq ft extension at the headquarters of Elcometer in East Manchester.

The expansion will allow Elcometer to meet increasing demand for its existing products, to extend the range of coating inspection tools which are already being produced in Manchester and to allow them to develop a new range of ultrasonic thickness gauges.

Russells, Trafford Park, has secured a design and build contract for the new build, which is located on Elcometer's own land on Edge Lane and will bring their total production and assembly floor space to 30,000 sq ft.

The construction scheme comprises land remediation, piled foundations and steel frame construction, which will be finished in brickwork and cladding to match the existing building on the site.

Russells will also manage the internal mechanical and electrical fit out. Internally, the factory floor will be finished to a high specification cleanroom standard.

Gareth Russell, director of Russells Construction, said: "This extension will give Elcometer the additional capacity it requires to serve both existing and future demand."
