Elan Homes buys Lower Darwen paper mill site
The housebuilder can begin delivering 76 homes on nine acres bought for an undisclosed price from Barnfield Blackburn, the joint venture between Blackburn with Darwen Council and Barnfield Construction.
The former paper mill site will be transformed to deliver Tower Gardens, a mixture of 31 three-bedroom and 45 four-bedroom houses, by December 2025. The semi-detached and detached homes will range from 825 sq ft to 1,355 sq ft.
There will be more than five acres of public open space, and residents will have access to at least two parking spaces per property. EV charging points will be provided.
The project is part of a wider mixed-use development which includes a spine road and nearly 100,000 sq ft of commercial space.
Tower Gardens is Elan Homes’ fourth development in Lancashire. The homebuilder is currently working on delivering 86 homes in Marton Moss, having snapped up the site near Lytham in April 2021.
Both parties acted for themselves.
