DPP Shape retained for regeneration of Rhyl
Manchester-based regeneration and masterplanning practice DPP Shape has been appointed by the Welsh Assembly Government and Denbighshire County Council to develop a strategic regeneration framework for Rhyl with a planned delivery over a 20 year period.
DPP Shape created a masterplan for West Rhyl and, in addition, is being retained to put in place a detailed delivery plan for neighbourhood management, development and improvement.
DPP Shape said Rhyl is the most deprived locale in the Welsh Assembly Government's coastal strategic regeneration area and has particularly acute problems in relation to housing, socio-economic statistics and employment.
Bethan Jones of Denbighshire County Council, added: "Rhyl has been identified as one of the key towns within the North Wales Coastal Strategic Regeneration Area and its successful regeneration is a vital component of the strategy to bring about genuine change to the socio-economic profile of the area.
"The appointment of DPP Shape to work alongside the Welsh Assembly Government and Denbighshire County Council provides confidence in moving forward this important area for the whole of North Wales coast."
