Devo cities to appoint evaluation panel

The combined authorities of nine city regions have joined together to commission research into the success of local growth initiatives under the devolution and city deal programmes.

The group consists of:

  • Greater Manchester
  • Liverpool City Region
  • Glasgow City Region
  • Greater Cambridge
  • Leeds City Region
  • North East
  • Sheffield City Region
  • Tees Valley
  • West Midlands

The group will, through GMCA, procure an independent panel to evaluate local growth interventions such as City, Local Growth and Devolution deals, all different government economic development regimes with pots, powers and conditions attached.

The framework will last for four years and has a budget of between £500,000 and £2.5m.

GMCA, which is running the panel, said the nine named localities could be joined by further localities if further deals are announced by government for new areas.

The new panel and chairman will “oversee the rigorous economic impact evaluation of…programmes of local growth interventions, based on the impact that those interventions have on local economic growth.”

The deadline for expressions of interest is 10am on 26 July.

Roberto – this is an evaluation so you need someone with experience in undertaking this sort of work and using the requisite tools and techniques. It’s not a poetry competition, so originality is not required.
