Developers on alert for 26-acre Blackpool Enterprise Zone opportunity
Blackpool Council plans to dispose of land close to the airport for industrial, office, or warehousing use.
The site totals 26 acres between Common Edge Road and Amy Johnson Way.
Plots will be offered in phases, with sizes ranging from 1.4 acres to 3.8 acres, according to the council.
The first round of plots will be available from spring with access to the land for site investigations permitted by summer.
Each plot will benefit from a dedicated electricity supply as well as utilities and fast fibre internet connectivity.
Cllr Mark Smith, cabinet member for economy and built environment at Blackpool Council, said: “The Enterprise Zone is a major part of our plans to make Blackpool better by creating jobs for local people.
“By creating new development land, we will help Blackpool and Fylde coast businesses to grow.
“We’re currently building the road to access this land and are making great progress.”
The £18.5m link road connecting Common Edge Road and Amy Johnson Way is under construction by George Cox and Sons and is due to be completed this year.
A £7.5m grant from the government’s Town Fund is being used towards the link road project.

Cllr Smith added: “We expect this land to be popular with businesses in Blackpool who want to expand, and anybody interested should get in touch with the Enterprise Zone team as soon as possible.”
Blackpool Council also approved the continued £54m funding of new roads and infrastructure across the Enterprise Zone, as well as progressing its Silicon Sands masterplan.
The executive committee also signalled the progression of a full planning application for a 52-acre solar farm on land to the south of Blackpool Airport.
A formal submission of an expression of interest to the government for the designation of Silicon Sands as an AI growth zone was also detailed.
To date, the Enterprise Zone has supported 2,767 employment opportunities, as well as 58 FTE construction jobs, according to the council.
Asking prices for the plots are yet to be determined.
