Developer brings forward 225 Knutsford homes

A public consultation has been held on plans to build up to 225 houses on a green field site off Longridge, to the east of Knutsford town centre.

Dewscope is proposing to build the houses on the plot near Booths Mere, which has been allocated for development under Cheshire East’s Local Plan.

The outline application, supported by Emery Planning, urban designer eScape, and transport planner SCP, include a mix of two to five-bedroom houses, 67 of which would be for affordable tenures.

The site will include green infrastructure and borders the Longridge playing fields, with its border of Birkin Brook to the North East.

A public consultation was held last week, but feedback can still be given on the plans until 24 May. An outline application is expected to be submitted later this year.

Commenting on the consultation, John Coxon, associate director at Emery, said: “We were in particular seeking comments in relation to delivering an improvement to open space provision within the area, and a number of innovative ideas have been put forward which we are going to investigate further as we undertake pre-application discussions with Cheshire East Council.

“We will also continue to engage with the Town Council and other community groups.”

Good to see new homes in places people actually want to live, rather than forcing people into flats behind security gates in the inner cities.

Great scheme to be working on

Given its Cheshire East – they will probably get a PP with about two and a half conditions attached….
