Delta Air France/KLM offers extra Manchester-USA service
Business and leisure passengers travelling from Manchester will have double the choice to American destinations this summer when Delta Air Lines and Air France KLM restart a daily nonstop service between Manchester Airport and New York's John F Kennedy International Airport.
The new service will be effective from 2 May this year and the daily flight operated by Delta will complement the airline's existing service to Atlanta and will extend connecting opportunities to destinations throughout America and beyond.
Armin Venencie, Delta's regional sales director, UK and Ireland, said: "We're bringing back our New York-JFK service to respond to an increase in passenger demand for travel to the United States this summer.
"Combined with daily Atlanta service, we're offering increased access to over 200 destinations throughout the United States, Latin America and the Caribbean, giving passengers many more options when planning business trips or vacations."
In May, Delta's BusinessElite passengers flying to New York-JFK will benefit from a complimentary chauffeur transfer to Manchester Airport.
The service is available to outbound passengers living within a 50-mile radius of Manchester Airport travelling in J, C and D class.
From 2 May to 31 July 2010 inclusive, this offer will also apply to passengers travelling in I and S class. The chauffeur service is contracted to Tristar Worldwide Chauffeur Services.
With nearly 230 daily trans-Atlantic flights and a fleet of 135 aircraft, the joint venture between Air France KLM and Delta Air Lines is structured around six main hubs, which includes Amsterdam, Atlanta, Detroit, Minneapolis, New York-JFK and Paris-CDG, together with Cincinnati, Lyon, Memphis and Salt Lake City.
The joint venture offers customers access to 300 destinations beyond the 26 North American gateways and 200 destinations beyond the 33 European gateways in Europe, Asia and Latin America.
Air France KLM Group and Delta Air Lines signed a joint venture agreement on 20 May last year. The JV generates about $10bn in annual revenues. Under the terms of this agreement, the partners jointly operate their trans-Atlantic routes, thereby sharing revenues and costs.
