Deloitte promotes two to director

Mel Wilson and Ed Britton have ditched the ‘assistant’ from their titles at the Big Four firm, and are leading teams in the regional development advisory and planning sectors, respectively.

As director of regional development advisory, Wilson will lead a team of 15 in helping transform North West communities. Wilson has worked at Deloitte for more than 15 years, interrupted by a year working at GVA, which is now part of Avison Young.

Wilson spoke at Place North West’s North West Rental Market event in May, where she described BTR as a crucial part of the housing mix for Manchester.

Britton, like Wilson, has spent much of his career at Deloitte. He has been with the Big Four firm for a total of 13 years, separated by two years working at GL Hearn. In his new director role, Britton will lead Deloitte’s wider planning business in Greater Manchester.

During his time at Deloitte thus far, Britton has worked on various projects and aided in securing planning permission for Investec’s proposed conversion of the House of Fraser off Deansgate into offices.

Simon Bedford, lead partner for regions development at Deloitte, praised Wilson and Britton.

“Both Mel and Ed have been integral to our success as a business over the last few years and I am delighted they have joined our senior regional management team,” Bedford said.

“Both make a massive contribution to much of our market-facing activity where they have led and delivered many outstanding projects for our clients,” he continued. “These promotions put the business in a great place to move forward over future years.”

Last year, Deloitte agreed to move its offices from Manchester to Salford, signing a 10-year lease for 43,000 sq ft at 100 Embankment. At the time, senior partner Andy Westbrook said the move was in line with the company’s North West growth plans, adding that it was looking to recruit 750 people over the next three years.
