Debenhams seeks buyer for 1.8m sq ft Burnley complex

DTRE has been appointed to sell the three-unit scheme at Heasandford Industrial Estate, which the retailer announced last year would cease operations.

Debenhams Group, which became an online-only retailer in 2021 following its acquisition by Boohoo, has moved its distribution operations to Sheffield.

The decision puts 1,200 jobs at risk and was described at the time by Burnley Council Leader Afrasiab Anwar as a “devastating” blow for the town.

Now, Debenhams Group, which rebranded as such last year, is seeking a buyer for the 1.8m sq ft complex.

The scheme sits on a 16-acre site and is made up of a trio of interconnecting buildings measuring 270,000 sq ft, 573,000 sq ft, and 989,000 sq ft.

DTRE is seeking unconditional offers for the freehold of the scheme, according to marketing materials.
