DAY welcomes board director
Joe Morgan has joined the Manchester-based architecture firm as a board director after 18 years with ADP.
“Welcoming someone of Joe’s calibre to our team is a bold statement of intent,” said Luke Irlam, managing director of DAY Architectural.
“His creativity and vision will be pivotal in driving the next phase of our success, both nationally and internationally,” Irlam continued.
Morgan has more than 20 years of experience in the industry, having gotten his start at John McAslan + Partners in 2004. He joined ADP Architecture a few years later, rising in the ranks from associate to board director.
During his career, project highlights for Morgan include designing the Laidlaw Library and Sir Henry William Bragg Institute, both at the University of Leeds, as well as drawing up masterplans for universities in Leeds, Bristol, Birmingham, and Hull.
Regarding his approach to design, Morgan said: “I consider listening and translating the client’s brief into a simple diagram is vital.
“Setting a clear set of rules and ordering the projects to deliver efficiency and quality from the outset and ensuring the project delivers sustainability for the end user and in the future,” he continued.
Speaking about joining DAY, Morgan added: “I am looking forward to working with the board in translating their vision into reality bringing my years of experience to DAY Architectural.
“I am excited to join the dynamic studio with an unwavering commitment to their clients of design and service. The change is a welcome injection of excitement, a little like the new kid in school”.
Morgan will channel that “new kid” energy as he works with fellow directors at DAY to lead the nearly 80 staff members in their work across the country.
DAY was founded 14 years ago. The company became an employee ownership trust in 2022 and has two sister companies that primarily work in the public sector: DAY PM, which does project management, and DAY CM, which offers cost management services. The architecture firm prides itself in its work in a variety of sectors, including education, regeneration, residential, and healthcare.
Current and recent projects for the studio include the £67m Greater Manchester Major Trauma Hospital in Salford, the University of Cumbria’s £77.5m Citadels campus, and Rossendale’s Rawtenstall Market revamp.
