CWAC moves to replace housing management contractors
Cheshire West & Cheshire Council is close to selecting City West Housing Trust, part of ForViva Group, as its new housing management contractor for 5,500 properties across Ellesmere Port and Neston.
On Wednesday 18 January, CWAC’s cabinet will be asked to approve City West as the preferred bidder for the 10-year contract, starting on 1 July 2017.
Currently Plus Dane Housing manages the properties on behalf of the council, but this contract comes to an end on 30 June 2017.
In November 2015, the council decided to retain the ownership of its homes in Ellesmere Port and Neston, and that once again they would be managed by an external organisation. This decision followed an options appraisal and consultation process, during which more than 1,200 tenants responded.
If approved, there will be a five-month lead-in period before the new contract begins.
The council will continue to be landlord of the properties and the existing workforce will TUPE transfer to the new provider.
Established in June 2015, ForViva Group owns and manages 18,000 homes across the North West and has brought together City West Housing Trust, Villages Housing Association and construction company ForWorks.
The new contract will include all housing management and repairs and maintenance to all council tenants and leaseholders. It also includes new council homes currently being built, as well as repairs and maintenance of two gypsy and traveller sites.
