Crichton takes top Avison Young Manchester role

Barry Crichton replaces Chris Cheap as regional managing director for Manchester, as Cheap becomes chief transformation officer.

Crichton was previously Avison Young’s head of project consultancy and management in Manchester. He joined the consultancy in 2018 after 17 years working at Deloitte. He has more than two decades of experience and has worked for a variety of clients, including The Christie NHS Foundation Trust and the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority.

As regional managing director for Manchester, Crichton is charged with leading the team in delivering large-scale regional development projects, as well as growing the company’s business in the region.

Crichton expressed his enthusiasm for his new position.

“I am excited about showcasing our successful collaboration across the Manchester office, as well as Liverpool and Leeds, and providing our clients with truly blended service offerings,” Crichton said.

“Our region continues to offer exciting and challenging engagements which I look forward to targeting in this new role.

“Avison Young is committed to effecting positive change for communities across the UK, and I’m pleased to continue to be a part of that journey,” he said.

Meanwhile, Cheap will be embracing a nationwide remit as Avison Young’s chief transformation officer. In his new role, Cheap will craft Avison Young’s growth strategies across the UK. He will continue to be based in the company’s Manchester office.

Crichton is not the only new regional managing director at Avison Young. Stuart Howie will be leading the Leeds team, while further north Paul Broad and Stewart Taylor will be in charge of the Glasgow and Edinburgh offices, respectively. Sarah-Jane Osborne is the regional managing director for the Bristol office.
