Councils may unite to share school plan

A set of 'super Local Education Partnerships' could be created in the North West to build new secondary schools if talks between councils succeed.
Local authorities in the North West are in talks to pool resources to form partnerships under the Government's £45bn Building Schools for the Future initiative.
Tim Byles, chief executive of BSF programme manager Partnerships for Schools, said Wigan and Salford were considering the idea, along with the five Merseyside boroughs. Talks between Blackpool and Blackburn reportedly stalled and both have decided to go it alone.
Meanwhile, Liverpool and Halton are among the latest 15 local authorities across the country to form the sixth round of BSF schemes.
