Council waves through 128 Lancashire homes
Seddon Homes has secured permission for the development of 12.5 acres off Long Ing Lane in Barnoldswick.
The plan will deliver 128 three and four-bed units, creating around 140,600 sq ft of total accommodation space.
There will be 61 three-bed semi-detached homes, 33 three-bed detached, and 27 four-bed detached ones.
Of the semi-detached houses, seven have been earmarked as affordable homes.
This constitutes about 5.5% of the project.
Architect Woodcroft Design planned the houses, which will vary between two and 2.5 storey’s high.
The site will provide 310 parking spaces.
Pinnacle Planning submitted the application on Seddon Homes’s behalf, and it was approved on the 27 August.
Homes will go on sale in spring 2025, with first completions late in 2025.
The project also promises upgrades to the tow path on the Leeds and Liverpool Canal, which follows adjacent, south-west to the site.
As part of the conditions, the Canal and River Trust required that the site must have a ten-metre buffer zone between the development and the canal.
Ponds and wildflowers will be added to contribute to the site’s biodiversity and to maintain the local environment.
Neil Watson, assistant director – planning, building control & regulatory services at Pendle Council, said: “The council has worked hard with the developer to get the development to come to fruition and we are pleased that it will provide affordable homes.”
Mick Jefferson, managing director at Seddon Homes, said: “This project will 128 homes to a prime location near the town centre and Leeds Liverpool Canal, including seven affordable units.
“We’re looking forward to welcoming our first residents by 2025, adding to the vibrant community in this desirable area.”
Chartered Surveyors Eddison and Paul Waite Associates had a role in the project. Trevor Bridge Associates took on the landscape plans.
Environmental assessments were undertaken by i2 Analytical.
The application can be viewed on Pendle Council’s planning portal with the reference number 22/0722/FUL.
Why dont they do apartments backing onto the canal front? You could get a lot more units in that way. Seems like such a waste of the land..
