Council launches Warmer Wirral energy grants

Wirral Council has published a tender for the management and facilitation of energy efficiency grants for private sector households within the borough.

A separate brief has gone out for an awareness raising programme to partner agencies which assist households with poor installation, known as Warmer Wirral.

The £370,000 contract covers a year and eight months, with an option to extend for a further two years to be renewed annually.

The first Wirral Affordable Warmth Strategy was published in 2004 and has recently been updated, committing the council to assist in the eradication of fuel poverty in line with Government targets.

The strategy provides a framework and direction for the council and its partners until 2010 and has identified the need to continue the provision of warmer homes grants and to promote them to households in the area.

Wirral Council is looking for suppliers who can provide both or one of the services between 1 August this year to 31 March 2011.

Deadline for submitting tenders is Thursday 18 June.
