Contollo commits to Manchester hub at XYZ
The Knutsford-headquartered building consultancy has brought three operating businesses together under one roof, taking 10,000 sq ft at the Spinningfields building.
With fit-out provided by Claremont, Contollo Group moved into Spinningfields this week, having agreed terms up until February 2032.
Contollo was supported by Canning O’Neill, with JLL across the table representing law firm Shoosmiths on sub-letting the space.
Backed by private equity house NorthEdge, Contollo has been in acquiring mode in recent years, with additions including Abacus Cost Management in February 2024, and MEP engineering services firm ESP at the start of 2025.
Abacus vacated its space at Queen Street, while KAM Project Consultants has made the move from Kenworthys Buildings on Bridge Street.
Elis Goodfellow, Contollo CCO and director at Abacus Cost Management, said: “Moving into XYZ in Spinningfields marks an exciting new chapter for Abacus.
“Being co-located with other Contollo businesses will unlock even greater opportunities for joint delivery, shared expertise and client value. It’s a brilliant step forward for our people and our clients as we continue to grow as part of the group.”
Having completed multiple acquisitions including Abacus, MBA, TACE, ESP and KAM, Contollo now employs more than 230 specialists nationwide.
Chief executive Ruth Percival said: “As Contollo continues to expand nationally and internationally, consolidating our North West operations is a strategic step in strengthening one of our most dynamic regions.
“Rebranding all our offices across the country has created a single, unified group identity, and this move further deepens that integration. The North West is a major engine of innovation and delivery for us, and this investment reinforces our long term commitment to the region as we scale.”
Alongside the Spinningfields move, TACE is expanding, taking an additional 2,100 sq ft floor within its current building at Stanley Green, north of Handforth, where it will now occupy 4,300 sq ft.
Meanwhile, Contollo’s head office in Knutsford, home to the group’s finance and central operations, is undergoing a refurbishment to support further growth.
The group works with a wide range of North West clients including Muse, Glenbrook, Harworth, Capital&Centric and Alliance Leisure.
