Contentious Adrenalin World plan edges closer

Stanley Park golf course in Blackpool is to be reduced to nine holes in September from 18, as Holmes Investment Properties prepares to redevelop 39 acres into a £45m indoor adventure park.

An Adrenalin World venue, a concept headed up by tennis player-turned-leisure mogul, David Lloyd, is to be constructed on the part of the course east of East Park Drive, subject to planning approval from Blackpool Council.

The closure of half of the course from 1 September is to allow Holmes Investment Properties to carry out work to downsize and consolidate the course on land to the west of East Park Drive. The developer proposes that the new course half the size of the original will continue to operate while the adventure park is being constructed.

Next month, the specialist real estate investor intends to launch a public consultation on the Adrenalin World proposals before submitting a planning application at the end of May.

In October, the council voted in favour of selling part of Stanley Park Golf Club to United Kingdom Adventure Parks, a subsidiary of Holmes Investment Properties.

The scheme, which includes proposals for 250 holiday lodges on the site, has proved controversial with some residents objecting to the loss of part of the golf course.

A 2019 petition against the scheme garnered 8,000 signatures but councillors voted not to act on it.

Does our council know the meaning of conservation? Please do not allow this project go ahead. It will ruin the whole area and course major traffic problems.
