Consent secured for New Brunswick

Plans by Generation to deliver a block of 16 apartments on Brunswick Street have been approved by Manchester City Council.

Work on a 12-month construction programme for New Brunswick is scheduled to start on site before the end of the year. The developer said that some of the apartments have already been secured by local buyers.

To the south of the city centre, Brunswick Street crosses three key arterial routes, running from Oxford Road across Upper Brook Street to the A6 Stockport Road by the Apollo Theatre.

Shehzad Chaudhri, director at Generation, said: “New Brunswick is one of a number of sites that Generation is looking at close to the city centre. We hope to be in a position to make further announcements in the coming months.”

Ollier Smurthwaite Architects designed the scheme and Paul Butler Associates is the planning consultant.

In March last year Generation submitted plans for a 210-home scheme at the former Manchester Metropolitan University Hollings campus, home of the Toast Rack.

Brilliant bit of design which proves that apartment occupiers don’t have any need for daylight in the digital age!
