Consent due for £40m Bentley Motors expansion

The luxury car manufacturer’s plans for the 500,000 sq ft expansion of its Crewe base are due to be approved by Cheshire East Council at its planning committee meeting next week.

An Engineering Technical Centre, design centre, and business building are to be built on an 11-acre site opposite Bentley’s office and warehouse complex on Pyms Lane. The plot is currently made up of two car parks owned by Bentley, and a Council Waste Depot, which is being relocated.

Designed by AHR Architects, the three blocks will range between one and five-storeys in height.

Bentley Motors is the largest employer in Crewe, with more than 4,000 staff.

According to documents submitted with the application, Bentley will relocate existing facilities to the new site, allowing it additional space for future manufacturing expansion.

HOW Planning prepared the application, which has been recommended for approval by council planning offices at the meeting on 18 May.
