Coleman to leave Marketing Manchester for private sector
Mark Coleman, communications manager at Marketing Manchester, part of the influential Manchester Growth Company collection of organisations that shape the city region’s economic plan, is leaving to join property and regeneration specialist agency Social Communications in Sale.
Coleman joins Social, founded by Caty Cartwright and John Quinton-Barber in 2013 and has grown to 10 staff, as account manager in the PR team.
Caty Cartwright said: “We are going through a period of sustained growth and we are thrilled that Mark will be joining us. The type of clients that we are working with will complement the PR skills that Mark will bring to the agency, including his public/private sector policy experience. His political knowledge and excellent media contacts means he will be a fantastic asset and he is joining a strong team where he will be able to use his skills across our expanding North West and UK-wide client base.”
Coleman will work across a number of property, regeneration and housing accounts including Stockport-based FT Finley, Places for People, UK wide contractor United Living and Inspired Villages, which has a scheme in Chester.
Coleman said: “I’ve learnt so much during my time with the superb team at Marketing Manchester over the past eight years, and I’m especially thankful for having the opportunity to put my passion for Manchester to good use in working across so many diverse projects. It’s been incredible to see how Greater Manchester has developed over this period. I’ll miss working here of course but I’m also looking forward to the new opportunity, with an exciting and growing organisation that has community at its very heart.”
Coleman was part of the marketing team that supported the Greater Manchester Strategy, and he advised New Economy, Greater Manchester Local Enterprise Partnership and Manchester at MIPIM on communications; most recently supporting Manchester Growth Company in its work to build a single strategy across its various group areas.
Marketing Manchester is the agency charged with promoting Manchester on the national and international stage. As part of the Manchester Growth Company, Marketing Manchester undertakes marketing and communications on behalf of the group.
Recruitment for Coleman’s replacement is underway.
